GDW endorses call to close ACDC, Stewart, and Irwin!

Immigrant rights organizations, Georgia Detention Watch, Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights (GLAHR), Black Alliance for Just Immigration, Project South, and Detention Watch Network demanded the mayor of Atlanta, the County Commissioners of Stewart County, and the County Commissioners of Irwin County immediately close the Atlanta City Detention Center (ACDC), the Stewart Detention Center, and the Irwin County Detention Center, following the deaths of Atul Kumar Babubhai Patel and Jean Carlos Jimenz-Joseph at ACDC and Stewart.

GDW Co-sponsors Vigil at ACDC

Georgia Detention Watch has joined forces with a number of local organizations to co-sponsor a vigil in front of the Atlanta City Detention Center (ACDC) on the evening of Thursday, July 6th from 7:30-9pm.  The vigil will remember the life of Atul Kumar Babubhai Patel, who died in ICE custody on May 16, 2017 after being held at ACDC.
